Carrie Zavala – Vocals

Carrie Zavala is a late bloomer onto the music scene. She served her community for 20 plus years as a Deputy/Officer and Gang Detective. She also raised a son on her own and is her single greatest accomplishment. She entered the music scene merely a year ago, but she’s covered more ground than artists with way more experience. She has sung with some of the top bands locally from San Diego to Los Angeles. Not only does she have powerhouse vocals that can bring the house down, she writes originals as well. She has been asked to open for Albert Cummings, Guitar Shorty and Ana Popovic. She may have started late, but she’s here now to take over the music scene.

Karl Dring – Guitar/Blues Harp

For over 35 years, Karl has been gigging steadily as a multi-instrumentalist in San Diego, California. Along with songwriting, as a “harp” (harmonica), bass, and guitar player, he has worked with a series of bands; focused on blues, rock, funk. His bands eventually were opening acts for such blues greats as Eddie “The Chief” Clearwater, Carey Bell, Kim Wilson of the Fabulous Thunderbirds, Tommy Castro, Koko Taylor, Dr. John, and the great B.B. King himself (twice!). Karl has played throughout the Western U.S., Mexico, and even toured in South America.

Mike VanDuyn – Guitar

Mike is a self taught guitar player who is heavily inspired by 70’s rock bands. But, when he first heard the blues from greats like Buddy Guy, Robert Johnson, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Ry Cooder, he knew that was what he wanted to play from that point on! Playing in bands and writing songs for well over 30 years, he started in the Bay Area and Napa California then moved to San Diego. Playing guitar has been his passion along with his love of the blues! As the fiery lead and slide guitar player in Zavala Sol, he creates much of the excitement associated with the band’s sound.

Jon Price – Drums

Jon Price, drummer extraordinaire, is a native of San Diego and has played music professionally for over 25 years. Having an affinity for music and rhythm, Jon has studied all genres of American and world music such as, Reggae, Rhythms of west Africa and Latin music. Jon’s skill, experience, and talent has created opportunities for him to play all these genres in live performing groups. Jon’s new music adventure is his blues with rhythm band, Zavala Sol. Aside from his drumming contributions, Jon can also take credit for his direct contributions to the personnel make up Zavala Sol.

Bill SalisburyBass Guitar

Bill was born in Buffalo NY where he picked up the bass at 14 to start a band with local friends and soon
began gigging professionally by the age of 16. At 19 he moved to Hollywood to attend the Musicians
Institute and has been playing live as well as recording all over Southern California since.
